LOVE

St Saviour's Anglican Church  has been operating the Free Store since 2011. We began operations when we became aware of those in need who had very little or no financial support and were living rough or on very limited income in Penticton. The format for the Free Store has changed significantly over the years, sometimes appearing as a pop-up store and at other times functioning as a clearing house. The Free Store currently operates two locations.

The St Saviour's Free Store

The first, and better-known, part of our operation is simply known as the St Saviour's Free Store. At the moment this is a partnership with 9 public-facing agencies in Penticton. Our volunteers collect, sort, store and coordinate donations from the community. Each month those 9 agencies are able to come in and collect whatever they feel they're able to freely distribute to their clientele for the month.

We are thankful to those who donate seasonal clothing, warm blankets, sleeping bags, bedding, towels as well as some personal care products. Because of limited space this is all we can accept.

TO DONATE: Please bring clothing items with you to services on Sundays or drop them off at the church office (150 Orchard Ave. – at the red door) Wednesday to Friday, 9am - 12pm.

The Storage Shed

The second part of our operation is known as the Storage Shed. This is a collection of used furniture that our volunteers collect and store and distribute as need arises. We are very thankful for the partnership of More Affordable Storage Penticton for their partnership in this initiative.

TO DONATE: Donations to the storage shed are subject to very limited space. Please call the church office if you have items in good condition that are looking for a good home.

 

TO PARTICIPATE: Items in the Storage Shed are made available upon referral by one of our partner agencies in Penticton, or occasionally upon special request. Please contact the church office for more information.
